Jason Vance is a musician, actor, and educator from the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia. He grew up on his grandparents' porch where his Pa-paw played banjo, his uncle played guitar, and his aunt played spoons while everyone flatfooted. Now based in Kingston, NY, he carries that tradition forward as a solo one-man band—banjo, harmonica, spoons, bass drum, tambourine, and stomp board, all at once.
Jason is Director of Exploration Bands at Brooklyn Music Factory and heads the music program at Middle Way School. He holds a BA from the University of Virginia and has taught music to kids for over 20 years. Featured on NBC News.
